    The Spirit of d'Angleterre

Hotel d’Angleterre is the result of a passion between two young people. In the middle 1700’s Jean Marchal, a servant in the royal court, and Maria Coppy, daughter to the royal chef, fell in love.  She was known for her cooking talent and he knew everything about serving the privileged. Together, in 1755, Mr. and Mrs. Marchal established a restaurant on the King’s Square on the corner of Vingårdsstræde. This is how Hotel d’Angleterre’s story begins.

Throughout the years, the passion for hospitality, exclusivity and uncompromising attention to detail has made luxury and service synonymous with the Hotel d’Angleterre name.

Today, the corporation carries on the tradition of passion for service that has earned the hotel its 5-star rating. It is simply the best Copenhagen has to offer.

Since 1755, Hotel D'Angleterre has been one of Copenhagen's finest hotels and is now one of the oldest hotels in the world. Hotel D'Angleterre is located in a landmark building overlooking the vibrant King’s Square, Kongens Nytorv, in the heart of Copenhagen.

This grand hotel has been the preferred place to stay in Copenhagen for dignitaries, royals, celebrities and prominent guests. D'Angleterre is close neighbours with the Renaissance-style Royal Theatre and the Dutch baroque Charlottenborg Palace, home to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

The gracefully appointed guest rooms and suites are individually decorated and combine modern amenities with luxurious charm, illustrated by the cut-glass chandeliers, marble floors and gold trimmings.

All rates include access to the exclusive Arndal Spa & Fitness centre that includes a large heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, treatment rooms and the most advanced fitness equipment.

The glowing Italian-designed Restaurant D'Angleterre is noted in the Michelin Guide for its high-quality international cuisine. Located in a dining room that’s more like an old member’s club and it features superb modern décor and a unique atmosphere.

An exquisite Champagne brunch is served each Sunday, and during the summer classic "Smørrebrød" (open sandwiches) is served on the outdoor terrace.
